The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 on Sunday putting the Mets record at 10-7 for the year. Letting the Phillies get 12 hits spread throughout the game, the Mets did their best and put nine hits on the board but still came up one run short for the loss.
Mike Pelfrey opened the night up for the Mets going five innings on the mound but gave up a staggering 10 hits and four runs in that time and only got two strikeouts. Jorge Sosa, Pedro Feliciano, and Joe Smith were brought in to pitch in relief but were not able to hold on for the win. Feliciano took the loss as he gave up a run in the seventh inning.
It wasn’t a bad hitting night got the Mets as Jose Reyes got his second triple of the year. Carlos Beltran led the Mets at the plate with two RBi while Luis Castillo and Ryan Church both had one RBI.
On Monday the Mets will travel to Chicago to battle the Cubs on the road. This will be a big game for the Mets as the Cubs are on a roll this year already leading the National League Central Standings.
